Rafiq Ullah
Rafiq Ullah’s practice explores calligraphy as a spatial language, where script, geometry and architecture come together to form visual structures. Trained as an architect, he approaches the line not only as a mark of writing, but as a measure of space, proportion and movement.
His work draws from Islamic visual heritage, the golden ratio and architectural thinking, while allowing colour, rhythm and gesture to open the surface into something more intuitive. Living between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has expanded his engagement with tradition, modernity and cultural belonging.
In his paintings and installations, calligraphic forms begin to resemble plans, façades and imagined structures, spaces where identity is built, displaced and reconnected through language, memory and form.
