Collection: Mansur Aye

Mansur Aye was a Pakistani modern artist, born in Delhi in 1941 and later based in Karachi. A self-taught painter, Mansur Aye developed a distinctive visual language defined by simplified faces, bold outlines, lyrical forms, and the iconic moon-faced female figures that became central to his practice.

Mansur Aye first exhibited at the Karachi Arts Council in 1962 in a two-person exhibition with Jamil Naqsh, and soon gained recognition within Pakistan’s modern art movement. In 1964, Mansur Aye received third prize at the National Painting Exhibition in Lahore, awarded by President Ayub Khan.

Working across different media, Mansur Aye became known for expressive figuration, minimal line, and emotional immediacy. Mansur Aye passed away in Karachi in 2008, leaving behind a legacy cherished by collectors of Pakistani modern art.
