Collection: Shahla Rafi

I am a landscape painter whose work is shaped by an intimate and enduring relationship with nature. Although I did not attend art school, I studied History of Art during my Bachelor’s degree and found deep inspiration in the work of my uncle, Khalid Iqbal, one of Pakistan’s most important landscape painters.

For me, landscape painting begins with observation, but it does not end with copying nature. The visible world becomes a starting point through which I search for inner harmony, beauty, and emotional intensity on the canvas.

My paintings are guided by changing light, colour, atmosphere, and the quiet wonder of the natural world. Each work carries the tension between perception and aspiration — the hope of capturing a moment, the struggle of translating it, and the desire to begin again.
