Sheema
Khan
Sheema Khan is a Karachi-based visual artist, born in 1982, whose practice expands contemporary miniature painting through history, memory, beauty, and socio-political reflection. She holds a Master’s degree in History and received distinction in Miniature Painting from the Department of Visual Studies, University of Karachi, where she has also served as visiting faculty.
Working with classical miniature techniques and contemporary concerns, she explores the tension between beauty and brutality, often transforming historical imagery into delicate yet critical visual narratives. Her practice engages culture, violence, ornament, and the fragile relationship between aesthetics and reality.
She has exhibited widely in Pakistan and internationally, including the solo presentation Wars & Roses at Sanat Initiative, and received the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Award in 2011.
For collectors, Sheema Khan’s work offers historical intelligence, technical refinement, and contemporary critical depth.
