Khan
Sheema Khan is a Karachi-based visual artist, born in 1982, whose practice expands the language of contemporary miniature painting. Sheema Khan holds a Master’s degree in History and received distinction in Miniature Painting from the Department of Visual Studies, University of Karachi, where Sheema Khan has also served as visiting faculty.
Sheema Khan combines classical miniature techniques with contemporary socio-political concerns, often exploring history, memory, beauty, brutality, and the tension between two-dimensional and three-dimensional form. Sheema Khan’s work has been exhibited widely in Pakistan and internationally, including the UK, UAE, Canada, Switzerland, Iran, Singapore, and the USA.
Sheema Khan received the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Award in 2011 and has presented major exhibitions including Wars and Roses at Sanat Gallery.
