Collection: Syed Tanzeef Raza Zaidi

I am a visual artist and filmmaker based in Islamabad, Pakistan. I earned my BFA from the National College of Arts, Lahore, with a major in Miniature. My work has been exhibited at Numaish Gah, Lahore, Khyal Art Space, Islamabad, and Orchard Gallery, Islamabad. I have also participated in a virtual exhibition with Khyal Art Space and am currently part of a residency with the Punjab Arts Council in collaboration with PTDC for the International Gandhara Festival.

My practice examines the idea of “value” within the image, drawing from both a maternal lineage of fine art and a paternal heritage in finance. I work with the formal language of Pahari and Mughal miniature painting to explore how aesthetic labour, ornament, and technical precision can mirror the visual systems found in global currency.

Using gouache on wasli with photo-transfer, I investigate how art and economics continue to shape cultural meaning across different eras. Through my work, the wasli becomes a space where landscape, ornament, control, legacy, and power coexist.
