"The Purple Majesty" by Zulekha Mandokhail

Zulekha Mandokhail is an emerging visual artist from Balochistan, currently working between Quetta and Karachi. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Balochistan in 2024 and is pursuing research at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture.

Working primarily with charcoal and oil paint, her practice explores memory, ancestry, dreams, cultural inheritance, and the landscapes of Balochistan. Through layered, symbolic imagery, Zulekha brings together the real and the imagined, creating spaces where myth, lived experience, field research, and personal memory coexist.

Her large-scale paintings investigate the relationship between beauty and discomfort, often reflecting on feminine narratives and the ways stories are carried across generations.
